It's a long row to hoe...

Yes, you read it correctly -" a long roe to hoe": it's an expression that means you quite a bit of work do. Although I love doing goldwork and I especially like how it looks when it's finished, it seem likes it's taking a long, long time to add what I thought was the finishing touch. It's not the finishing touch - it's a major part of the stitching. I should clarify...it isn't the stitching, it's the plunging and fastening securely on the back.At one point over the weekend I stopped and took a photo of some of the gold bits waiting to be plunged. I thought to myself, two panels finished and two more to go...when a slice of sunshine came through the window on what had been a cloudy day.The glitter and glimmer of the gold (that frankly I was tired of doing!)  looked so beautiful I decided I could persevere! As you can see, it's a long ways to go until I'm finished with all of the gold. Why do I feel a bit of pressure? Well, in addition to the beautiful Acorn piece for Nicola Jarvis yet to stitch, I have a few other projects I need to get going on that will be gifts. It's coming up to that time of year, isn't it?Back to my needle!
