Embroidered Winter Linen Pillows

Three or more (I really can't remember!) years ago I embroidered these pretty motifs in the corners (on the pillow below) and the top and bottom (the next picture below) on some wonderful, very fine French linen using DMC Floche a Broder thread. The centre scene on the pillow also came from France and I knew I would use them in a winter themed bedroom at Christmas someday. I then put them safely away, waiting for the time when I would eventually make them into pillows.DSC_0060  DSC_0067Over the Christmas holidays, my brother and his wife will be coming to visit us in Berlin. Naturally, I want to make their stay as special and as memorable as possible. This includes the room in which they will stay during their visit.A few weeks ago, when I was thinking about how to decorate their room, I had an Ah-Ha! moment: this was the perfect time to make up these pillows! DSC_0075I'm still working out what duvet covers to put on the bed that will best highlight, not overwhelm, the pillows but I think they look very cozy and wintery! This is one of the few projects I've finished - there are so many more in the large artists portfolio, all zipped up and safely stored under the bed! Someday I really must finish them all! How long does it take you to mount, frame, make into pillows, etc. your pieces of embroidery? Am I the slowest in the world?
