Trevelyon's Cap progress

This afternoon I finished the very last bit of the silk stitching on the panels of Trevelyon's Cap. This means that all of the color is finished and only the gold is left to do. The cap looks so vibrant and the colors, bright jewel tones, glow in the light. The next step is to couch down the gold thread on the lines that connect each of the brightly colored silk flowers and leaves. In the photo below you can see the lines that will be couched over with gold. This couching won't take long and then I'll get to move on to stitching the border that edges the cap. This will be done in silk and gold with small spangles for the acorns (I think). The difficulty will be stitching in shapes that are so very small. Here's one section of the border and it's only 4 inches long. Those acorns are smaller, less than 1/4 inch across! The colors will be limited to red, blues, golds and greens. The curled vine that runs through the whole design will be done in couched gold.I'm really excited to get it all stitched and begin to put it together. Of course, I also will be  starting on Nicola Jarvis' piece. I need to do a little practice in preparation for that piece to review and practice a few stitches.I feel so lucky to have such wonderful projects to be working on!
