Rugby RSN Exhibit and Lecture

If you're interested in seeing the embroidery of the students who are studying at the Royal School of Needlework, Rugby, now is your chance. It closes on Saturday, June 23rd which make this weekend the perfect time to plan a visit to Rugby.This is the first exhibition to be held by the Royal School of Needlework in Rugby.It will showcase the work of approximately twenty students studying hand embroidery on the Certificate and Diploma courses held in Rugby Library and Art Gallery since September 2011.The intricate needlework exhibits demonstrate embroidery techniques executed at a very high level, celebrating the success of this new branch of the Royal School of Needlework.The exhibit is at the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum, Little Elborow Street  Warwickshire CV21 3BZ. Entry is free.After the exhibit closes, in early July, you have the opportunity to hear a talk entitled “With just a needle and thread, 140 years of the Royal School of Needlework” by Dr. Susan Kay Williams, the RSN’s Chief Executive.Following on from the Summer Exhibition this fully illustrated talk will feature commissions, pieces for major public events and work by students past and present, and show what can be achieved with just a needle and thread.  You do not have to be a stitcher to enjoy this stimulating and eye-opening lecture.Rugby Art Gallery and Museum Tuesday 10 July 2012, 7 – 8pm£5 per person, please book by visiting the Art Gallery, calling 01788 533201 or emailing ragm@rugby.gov.uk
